The Edo State Police Command has arrested an 18-year-old named Kingdom Paul in connection with the alleged murder of a 38-year-old woman, Victory Oro, in Benin City.

The incident occurred last Thursday at a local lodge where both Paul and Oro had gone after reaching an agreement for a sexual encounter.

Paul, who was among several suspects paraded at the police headquarters in Benin City on Friday, admitted to the crime.

According to the police report, after their encounter, an unexpected altercation arose, leading Paul to allegedly stab Oro.

Oro was immediately rushed to Supreme Hospital on Upper Ekenwan Road, but she did not survive the attack. Her body has been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary, pending an autopsy.

Edo State Police Spokesman, SP Moses Joel Yamu, confirmed the incident, stating, “On 05/09/2024, at about 12:00 noon, operatives from the Evbuotubu Division, acting on a tip-off, arrested Kingdom Paul, an 18-year-old male, for allegedly stabbing a woman named Victory Oro, 38 years old, at a lodge where they had gone for an encounter.”

In his confession to journalists, Paul stated that he attacked Oro suddenly and without any provocation, despite an earlier agreement to pay her N2,000 for their encounter. The investigation is ongoing as the police work to uncover the full details of the incident.
