Liverpool dominated play in the first half with the visitors struggling to cope with their pace.
Diaz gave the visitors the lead 10 minutes before the break through a back post header after United midfielder Casemiro had given the ball away.
The Colombia international swept home the second goal three minutes before the break.
Salah added a third 11 minutes into the second half.
